Carolyn Payne currently serves as Assistant General Counsel and Vice President Loan Services at FCS Financial where she leads the association’s document services team and advises on legal matters. Prior to her career within the Farm Credit System, Carolyn was in private practice and served as a staff attorney at the Kansas Insurance Department. Carolyn is the co-author of “Creditors Be Aware: Common Pitfalls of the Amended ECOA Valuations Rule” published in the ABA Banking Law Committee Journal and “Whose (Credit) Line Is It Anyway?: Practical Tips for Managing Voidable Transaction Risk When Underwriting And Structuring Credit to Affiliated Borrowers” published in the ABA Business Bankruptcy Committee Newsletter. In addition, Carolyn is the proud recipient of the 2017 First Chair Award for “Top Assistant General Counsel.” She regularly presents on legal topics relating to lender liability and regulatory compliance. Carolyn received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas and her Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law. She is a member of the Kansas Bar and the American Bar Association.
